On November 6, 1999, at Millennium Stadium, Cardiff, Australia's rugby union team, the Wallabies, beat France in the Final of rugby's ultimate competitive showpiece, the 1999 Rugby World Cup. They had fulfilled their four-year mission to bring back "Bill", their nickname for the William Webb Ellis trophy.
In the process, they became the first team to win the Rugby World Cup twice and established a reputation as one of the most-respected and well-liked groups of athletes to ever leave Australian shores.
On their way to the Final, they had defeated South Africa 27-21 in the semi final and Wales 24-9 in the quarter final.
