Son of Sydney rugby league footballer and coach Laurie Freier, Adam Freier made the Australian Schoolboys in 1998 as well as the under-19s, which he captained the following year. In 2000 he signed with the Brumbies and made his state debut against Queensland. He made his debut for the Wallabies in 2002, in a Test against Argentina.[
Frier left the Brumbies and signed with the Waratahs for the 2003 season, and was selected to captain the Waratahs tour of Argentina in post-season 2004, and was voted player of the tour. In 2005 he was selected for the final match of the 2005 Tri Nations Series.
Adam Freier played 80 matches for the Waratahs from 2003 to 2020 and played 25 Tests for the Australian Wallabies.
