Product Details

Superbly framed in timber with a silver lined mat board around the lithograph.

A fine tribute to a true legend of the game. He has always lived up to the title of his autobiography, "Don't Die With the Music in You" and this year's performance of the Broncos, a team without the list of stars that other teams possess, attests to his influence and attitude to the game and his players.

Created in an edition of 10 plus 3 artist's proofs. We have edition 6 and 9 in the 10 as well as number 1 of the artist's proof. If you have a preference, please indicate this in the "comments" section of our order form. Further information about proofs is provided below. This is one of the best images in the painted form that we have seen of a sporting legend. Each piece is a print of the original with hand-signed autograph.

After starting his NSWRL Premiership coaching career with the Canberra Raiders, in 1988 Bennett was appointed the inaugural coach of the new Brisbane Broncos club, later winning six premierships with them, and in 1998 was first selected to coach the Australian national team. He has since coached the St. George Illawarra Dragons (with whom he won the 2010 NRL Premiership) and the Newcastle Knights, and set Australian coaching records for most grand final wins (7) and most seasons with a single club (21).

ARTISTS PROOFS

Artist's proofs are a special subset of the regular limited edition. They usually sell for 10-30% more than the regular edition. Artist's proofs began back when limited editions were all hand-pulled from a one-man lithograph press. The artist's proofs were the first prints pulled off a fresh "stone" (the plate which was drawn or etched by the artist to create the prints). The stone wore down as the number of prints was increased, so that the APs were the sharpest and most colorful of the lot. Thus, they sold for more, being a better product. A/Ps are distributed amongst the artist, publisher, and any co-signees. These days, in the world of modern offset lithography, all the prints in an edition are nearly identical. Artist's proofs maintain their collectibility and value. The reasons are A) They are a small subset of the edition, and B) they usually come directly from the artist. In these days of mass marketing, getting something directly or even indirectly from the artist is rare. Publishers usually turn over the artists proofs to the artist for his or her own use, and retain all the other prints in the edition.
